Today was our field trip to Peralta Adobe.  Thank you to Risa’s dad, Jinsu’s mom, Sathvik’s mom, Aman’s mom, Adam’s mom and dad, Jolyn’s mom, and Mrs. Waite-Lopez’s husband, Mr. Lopez, for driving on our field trips and leading a station on our field trip.  Peralta Adobe is the former home of Luis Maria Peralta.  It is also the oldest building in San Jose, built in 1797.  Peralta was a land owner and owned Rancho San Antonio. He was also one of the founders of Pueblo de San Jose de Guadalupe.
Perlta Adobe is a fun hands on field trip. On the field trip today, the kids made corn husk figures, played some games, designed a brand, roped a bull, made a candle, made and drank Yerba Buena Tea, made and ate a tortilla, made an adobe brick, and then dressed up in traditional clothes and learned about making wool.

Next field trip is to Sacramento and Coloma!  Wahoo! :)
